A change in the weather

Yesterday was beautiful with frost and sunshine; today has been wet and windy. First task of the day was a trip to Tesco because the fridge was empty and we had no veg of any description left! We went early(ish) to try to beat the crowds. When we got back, Adrian unpacked the bags while I went to complete my steps as it wasn’t raining too much. I opted to do most of the route on Middlewood Way, where it’s a bit more sheltered by being in a cutting. I walked down as far as the lane which links to canal bridge 21, which has a lovely cobbled slope up to the road.

I took the towpath back. There’s a cafe, Lyme Breeze, just across the canal from the marina which is open Thursdays to Sundays. It’s also a venue for events such as weddings — and today they had their outside area set up for a wedding. I can’t believe someone was actually using it today, but doing it as an example seemed a bit odd on a day with horizontal rain.

This afternoon we’ve been doing very little. It has warmed up a bit, so we’re properly floating again and being battered by the wind. Our shopping expedition means we have a roast to look forward to later.
