Storm Dave gave us a proper battering as it came through yesterday evening and overnight, but things were much better by this morning — sunshine with just the odd shower, although still quite breezy. When I took Macc for his morning walk, he was persuaded to pose by one of the lakes at Kingsbury Water park.

We were having a non-moving day as we had visitors coming for Easter Sunday lunch. This meant some of the morning was spent on veg prep, and I also cleared the roof of catkins blown down from the tree across the canal. A leg of lamb went in the oven at 12, and then a bit before 1 my second cousin Catherine and family arrived. They got the guided tour of KV and met Macc, who’d been for a nap and so was very well behaved. He had his lunch, fed to him by Grace, who managed to get him to sit, paw, down, and wait — which we thought was pretty good. It’s one thing taking instructions from us, but another getting them from someone he’s never met before. Then at about 2 we all sat down to our roast. Well I say we all sat down, two of us were standing up, because we can’t really seat six!
After lunch, Catherine, Grace, Matthew and I went for a walk round Kingsbury Water Park with Macc while Adrian and Nigel did the washing up. Macc got a little over-excited, so was ready for another sleep when we got back. It was really great seeing everyone, as we haven’t got together since Chester in October, when Grace started Uni there. There was quite a lot to catch up on, and it’s been a really lovely day.
It’s been very quiet boatwise. One which turned at the winding hole and moored behind us yesterday has left, and one hire boat has come down the locks, but that’s all. The water park has also been surprisingly quiet, especially given that it’s been a nice sunny day. Tomorrow we’ll move on, with KV’s first ever uphill locks.
