Today we needed to go back to Briar Rose to get another car load of stuff. It was very frosty first thing, with yesterday evenings rain all frozen in big blobs all over the boat. We left perhaps a bit later than planned, partly because we didn’t get up that early, and then we went to see Jam and Donna with a list of things to check. The main one was that most of the radiators weren’t getting hot enough — meaning the Webasto was running for a long time without having much effect. Apparently this is fairly common in new systems, especially on boats, where the air gets moved around the system as the boat moves and the radiators need bleeding.
We got to Kings Orchard at about 11.15 and spent a couple of hours packing things up and loading the car. It was sunny but pretty cold. On the return journey, we stopped for lunch at the OK Diner, on the A5 in Cannock, where the food was pretty good.
We got back to Braidbar at about 3.30. Jam had sorted the radiators and improved the WiFi signal, and we’ve also got a holder for the tiller in the engine room, and the loo roll holder has been added to the shower room. Unpacking the car was pretty quick, but unpacking the boxes was trickier than yesterday because today’s load was mostly oddments that had been stowed slightly haphazardly into bags and boxes!
I still had quite a few steps to do, so set off up the towpath in the near dark. A boat had just left the water point, and the little moon was shining brightly.

We’re hoping we might actually leave the boat yard tomorrow for a night out on the cut, but we’ll see how we go. We need more shopping, and there are always more things to find homes for.

Lovely to know you are settling in on the beautiful new boat! And very glad the heating is coming up to speed – critical at this time of year, I reckon. Enjoy, guys.
