Walking back from Poynton

Adrian had a few things to do in Poynton this morning, including getting a haircut, so I went down with him in the car so I could walk back — really just for a change of scenery. Poynton has a nice town centre with plenty of shops and cafes, but the main street, Park Lane, is cobbled and paved in a way that’s designed to make drivers think about what they’re doing, and give pedestrians equal priority. So there are no road markings and numerous places which could be pedestrian crossings; the trouble is that no-one seems entirely sure what they’re supposed to be doing!

Anyway, I walked up Park Lane and then bore right, and then took a footpath behind some houses which went past the Scout Hut and alongside some very neat allotments.

I followed more footpaths along horse fields, and eventually came out just a short distance from Middlewood Way. I took a set of steps down by a bridge (another access point ticked off!) and headed back towards the marina, passing some horse riders on the way.

Back at the boat I made some spicy roasted butternut squash soup, having roasted one when I did out Sunday roast this weekend. This afternoon, we’ve started preparing for going on holiday. Adrian has re-set the AirTags to go in the luggage, while I managed to work out the combination on a padlock. One of the places we’re staying said it’s ski locker has no lock, so we needed to bring our own. We had one that I used to use at the gym, but I couldn’t remember the number. Several YouTube videos and an hour later, I’d managed to get it to lock and unlock, proving that they’re not very secure!
