It was quite nice this morning, and we started the day with a few jobs — including getting a load of washing done, filling the water tank with our two hosepipes, and emptying the loo. Adrian also did some work in his charity role. Then we headed out for a walk, going down Middlewood Way and taking the path up the hill to the canal by Bridge 22, where a set of lovely old steps take you down to the tow path.

We had lunch, then as the weather was still better than forecast we decided to go for a little jaunt. We have a Boat Safety exam booked for tomorrow and it would be easier if we were back at Braidbar. As we’re a new boat, we don’t actually need a BSS, but I’ve always thought it was a good idea for new boats to have one, as it saves any surprises when the first one is due in four years time. It was first booked for Monday last week, then moved to Tuesday, then it might have been Thursday, so hopefully it will actually happen tomorrow.
We backed out of our berth, and because there’s so little swinging space we went backwards down the marina and then out of the entrance. Everything is very tight, so it’s not easy. But once we were out, it was nice to be on the move.

We moored up on the Braidbar towpath mooring, and we’d only been there a little while when a rug we’d ordered was delivered. Getting it under the sofa was a bit of a performance, but we like it — and hopefully will keep our feet a bit warmer!

We’d timed things pretty well, because a little later the rain started and it’s been chucking it down. We’re supposed to have more of the same tomorrow, but the rest of the week is forecast to be better. Oh, and as the Christmas episode of the podcast was ready, I’ve decided to put it out tomorrow morning rather than waiting until Friday, so look out for that!
