Christmas Eve Eve

First job of the day was to try to tie us more securely to the jetty here in the marina. It’s only about half the length of the boat so we’re having to use the centre line, and since our neighbours have been out, our stern has been drifting well away from the side. I used the other centre line to a different ring, to form a spring — and so far it seems to be working.

Then we walked up to Braidbar to collect an additional fire extinguisher for the BSS. We’ve put it in the engine room.

We’d taken a backpack to carry it back in, which was just as well as it’s quite heavy. Then we headed out in the car to Poynton to get a couple of things from the Co-op and Waitrose, both of which were less busy than expected. One of the postboxes has a Christmas kitted topper.

After lunch we had a phone call with a lady whose dog has just had a litter of puppies. We liked the sound of her and them, so have put our name down for one. It’ll be a while before we can actually see them, because they were born only four days ago. Then I made a batch of pastry that can rest in the fridge until tomorrow, when mince pie production will get under way.
