Apologies that this is going to be more of a puppy blog than a boating one, at least for the next few days! Macc’s breeder told us yesterday that the puppies were sleeping through the night from about 11pm to 5am. So he went out for his late toilet break at gone 10.30 last night, and was in his crate with a blanket over it by 11. We didn’t hear a peep out of him! I got up just before 5, and when I lifted the blanket to have a look, Macc was sitting up, looking out, and wagging his tail. I took him out, and bumped into the dog dad from just along the marina, also with puppy and head torch. It had been trying to snow overnight, and there were suggestions of snow along the edge of the grassy bank. Back on board, Macc was wide awake and wanting to play, so I indulged him for a bit before going back to bed.
At about 6.30 Macc called us, so Adrian got up and took him out — and he needed to go, which was good. He then wolfed down his breakfast, having not eaten a great deal yesterday, and then settled on Adrian’s lap. We’ve alternated all day between an hour or so of boisterous play, then some calm play, and then sleep.

Adrian went to do some food shopping and a pet shop visit, while I stayed with Macc. After lunch, I went for a bit of a walk while Adrian stayed with him

There’s only been one indoor accident so far, which we think is pretty good, and that might have been because he was a bit spooked by another dog when he was outside and didn’t actually do anything. Mostly, we take him out and he does his business almost immediately. He’s been much more confident today, which is nice to see, and seems to be interested in everything new. Oh, and he’s now on Instagram, so follow him at @macc.the.boating.border
