More confident — and testing boundaries

I took Macc out for his late night toilet break at about 11 last night, and he didn’t particularly want to go to bed. He went in his crate, I put the blanket over the top, and gradually turned the lights off. He whimpered for a little while but then settled. We were up at just before 5 to take him out again, and this time he really wanted to play when we were back inside. He cried for ten minutes or so, then must have realised he wasn’t getting anywhere so settled down to sleep again. Adrian took him out again a bit before 8, while I had a shower. Once back inside, he was confident enough to venture up the boat; I could hear him outside the bathroom door so opened it, and I think it must have been the first time he’d seen toes! He was very keen to have his breakfast too.

Adrian headed into Poynton to take some parcel returns to the post office, and also went to the pet shop for a new collar. The one he came with, which was colour coded for each puppy, was a quick release one and we needed something a bit more reliable. Macc enjoys his outings onto the grassy bank by the boat a bit too much, there are too many distractions. He likes pouncing on dead leaves, and he’s also found plenty of sticks, all of which get removed from him.

During his morning sleep I made a small batch of oat and raising cookies, as we have visitors tomorrow.

Play times now include some zoomies up and down the boat, including under the sofa, and he likes getting all of his toys out of his toy box, which often involves almost getting into it.

Boat training is a bit hit and miss today. There have been a few accidents — in fact some seemed more deliberate than accidental. But it has been very wet and cold, with torrential rain and hailstones, so going out isn’t the most attractive option sometimes.
