A much nicer day today with even a bit of sunshine! First thing, we walked down Middlewood Way back to Lyme View, so that we could collect a parcel that had been delivered just after we left on Monday. It was a clock that’s now been put up on the bulkhead by the front doors. Adrian also collected the car and headed into Poynton, while I walked back to the boat via the towpath to start prep for our lunch guests. Helen and Andy arrived about midday; they’d come via Altrincham, where they’d picked up a load of wooden boards so Andy can re-do Briar Rose’s engine room.

We showed Helen and Andy the boat, and then I made a pasta main course and a marmalade pudding cake for dessert. Then we spent a while just chatting until it was almost dark.

I still had steps to do, so headed off to do a Middlewood Way loop, and the sky was beautiful through the trees.

So we’ve now had our first proper guests on board, and fortunately everything worked perfectly.

It was lovely to see you both – and the boat of course!
