This morning we drove over to the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, which is less than an hour from here mostly on the M56. I’d arranged to do some recordings for the Christmas edition of my podcast, The Water Road, which will be out on Friday. As we were there a bit early, we walked along the Manchester Ship Canal, and had a look at where we came in off the canal into the museum on Briar Rose, back in 2013.

Christmas boat trips were running and there was a Santa’s grotto, and while I did my recordings Adrian sat in the cafe watching proceedings. We noticed there were a few other people spending several hours there!

We ended up having lunch in the cafe before a final recording, then drove to Chester to see my dad. We took him to my sister’s house, where Christmas tree decoration was about to start. It was nice to catch up with everyone, before my sister took my dad home, and we headed back to the marina.
