Temporary escape from the marina

Adrian had an appointment in Macclesfield fairly early this morning, so was up and out by 8.30. I changed the bed and got the bedding on to wash and dry, and then headed out for a walk. En route, Adrian called to say it had gone well, and meant he could cancel another appointment tomorrow. I was walking north, so we decided that if all the boats at Braidbar had been moved around and the canalside mooring was free, today would be a good time to bring the boat back for a couple more snagging items. When I reached Braidbar I could see that Reginald and Clover (which had been in the arm for Christmas and then got iced in there) where back across at Victoria Pitt, Grand Adventure was out of the paint dock, and the newest shell had been moved into the yard. A quick check with Braidbar and we were on. Grand Adventure looks really good, by the way; it’s funny that we had no red at all, while they’ve had mostly red.

I walked back down Middlewood Way, and Adrian arrived back shortly afterwards. The dryer finished its work, so we decided to unplug and go for it. There was no wind at all (which is very unusual) as we reversed out of our berth, backed up the length of the marina, and turned out onto the canal and headed north.

There was a bit of activity as we came through the deeps, as first one boat came through the bridge nd then another. A third was going onto the water point the other side.

We tied up on the Braidbar mooring, let them know we were there, and had lunch. In the afternoon Daryl and Jonathan turned up, one to look at the radiator which wasn’t getting hot, and to change the sender on the fuel gauge. Jonathan also swapped a couple of the switches around so the horn is now on a rocker switch.

It’s been quite a nice day — we’ve done our highest ever amount of solar generation today — if a bit cold still. But the best thing is that we have a view out of the side windows, even if it is only for one night.

1 mile, 0 locks.
