Busy day

Adrian went to a conference in Manchester today, so we were both up a bit earlier than normal as he needed to leave for Poynton Station just before 8am. After yesterday’s trials with Macc, today has been much better. We’re in the difficult phase where he needs to work out that he’s not in charge, and we need to make sure we’re not letting him develop bad habits. During one of his mad moment today, he decided his blanket needed to be pulled out of the crate, although to his credit he did put it back again (mostly) a bit later. We’ve been alternating play and sleep, but even when he’s enjoying himself he sometimes seems to have a grumpy face!

We have visitors tomorrow so in Macc’s sleeping sessions I’ve been flat out. I made stock from last night’s roast chicken carcass (Adrian, who is the stock king had actually put all the ingredients in the pan, I just added water and turned it on), then made a batch of oat and raising cookies, half of which were baked and half of which have gone in the freezer. Then this afternoon I’ve made a big pot of spicy roasted butternut squash soup, and I’ve even roasted the seeds.

Macc is now actively asking to go outside, but I have a suspicion it’s mostly because he wants to lark about. Speaking of which, he’s woken up from his latest nap so I’d better go and pay him some attention.
