Coffee sticks and teething keys

I saw on one of the puppy groups I’m now on that someone recommended coffee sticks for dogs to chew on. I did some research and found that they are just that — sticks from coffee plants. The good things are that they’re hard so they last a long time, but not so hard (like antlers, for example) that they break puppies’ teeth. The wood also doesn’t splinter. I ordered some and they arrived late yesterday afternoon — and Macc seems to love it. I guess it tastes of coffee.

Today our friends Billy and Sheila came to visit, mostly to see Macc! They brought him a gift of teething keys, which their dogs liked. Macc was soon chewing on them, and they turned out to be bacon flavoured, which possibly goes well with the coffee.

Macc put on a pretty good show and then went in his crate and went to sleep while we had lunch. Billy and Sheila also made us feel better about how we’re getting on with Macc, as they were quite surprised how well he’s doing on his toilet training, use of the crate, and sleeping so long through the night.
