The trainer we spoke to yesterday offered to lend us a puppy pen for the grass outside the boat, so I went and got it on the way to my dad’s yesterday afternoon, and put it up this morning. Macc wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. We might use a smaller version on the well deck when we leave the marina as a time-out pen.
Macc was a real pain this morning, but we’re realising that he’s at his worst when he’s overtired. So we’re making much more effort to try to get him to sleep more during the day. Of course you can’t make a puppy sleep, but we’re trying to calm him down when he’s been up for an hour or so, and covering his crate with a blanket so there are fewer distractions. For the remainder of the day it’s seemed to work.
This afternoon we had a visit from Steve Wedgwood from Kings Lock Chandlery, who’d come to try to get to the bottom of an unusual thing that our Webasto heater has been doing — thinking it’s off but actually still on. He plugged in his diagnostics and has a theory concerning the way the Hive controller is working with it.
Macc woke up just as Steve was leaving, and made a very favourable impression by being as good as gold! We also did Macc’s weekly weigh in; it’s a bit imprecise given that we sit him in his toy box and balance it on some kitchen scales — but he appears to have put on about half a kg in the past week. He’s also visibly grown, so we weren’t entirely surprised.
