Familiar waters

Macc wasn’t stirring when the alarm went off at 6.30, so we got an extra fifteen or twenty minutes in bed! It’s hard work having a puppy! He gets very excited about his breakfast too, so it’s often difficult to calm him down for his crate while we have ours. We set off around 9, while Macc was still doing his best to avoid going back to sleep. We ran of diesel to charge the batteries and to continue our quest to run the engine in; the first oil change is due around 50 hours, although Jam at Braidbar reckons around 65-75 hours on the clock is better.

The stretch through High Lane, Higher Poynton, and past Lyme View is now so familiar I didn’t take any photos until after we’d moored up. We stopped in the same place as last Monday, between Bridges 19 and 20; Adrian had a call at 11 and we were secure well before then. He’s been doing more of his charity stuff since then, and I’ve been thinking about future podcast episodes. Macc is pretty good at the things we’ve been teaching him, and at looking cute.

His biggest issue is getting over-excited and then taking a long time to calm down. We’re seeing Cal the puppy trainer in Bollington again tomorrow so we’ll get advice from her about whether it’s just a puppy thing he’ll grow out of. It will be another short hop, and the main question will be whether there’s a nice mooring on the aqueduct.
