We’ve stopped at tonight’s mooring twice before — last Monday and the Monday before! In fact today’s journey was a repeat of last week, when I complained that the waters were so familiar I didn’t take any photos. Well today I took two. One was of the tree roots in the woods through the first bridge, where it looks as though a tree blew down a long time ago go exposing the roots, and a new tree has grown up from them. The other was of some topiary next to a boat on the offside moorings before Poynton. This boat owner also has an extraordinary collection of stuff on his piece of land, that I’m sure I’ve pictured before.

We stopped at the water point at Higher Poynton to fill the tank. Well, we thought we’d filled it because it appeared to be overflowing, but it seems that when the tank is nearly full, the force of the water from a fast tap means the filler pipe gets a bit overwhelmed and it turns out the tank isn’t really full. Anyway, we need to make this tank last until we get to Bosley, because the tap at Macclesfield has been suffering from stupidly low pressure.
Before we left Higher Poynton we managed a brief but emotional farewell to Donna. As we’ll soon be heading south, we won’t see the Braidbar gang again until the Crick Boat Show. We moored up a bit after 11, and it’s been raining on and off since lunchtime. Tomorrow we’ll be doing another repeat journey to Bollington, and hoping that for the third Tuesday running there’s a nice mooring available.
