Fingers Crossed: Day 40

With no reason to be up and about early today, Macc of course decided that we should be up and about early. I put him back to bed after his early toilet visit, but he didn’t want to stay there long. But we made the most of not moving by having scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. Adrian wanted to head into town for a few things, but as he neared the post office realised he’d left a return parcel on the boat! He went to Timpson for a new battery for my watch, and went to the big Sainsbury’s for a top up shop. Meanwhile I did a few jobs on the boat, and put a podcast episode together. When Adrian was back, it was my turn to head out as I’d arranged to meet Bobby, the editor of Waterways World, at a cafe. We had a good catch up and talked about some ideas for future articles. I walked back via a different route, past the Town Hall with its clock tower.

I walked back along the towpath from Shobnall Basin. There’s one of the T&M mile posts here, although on this trip we won’t be going to either of these places.

Adrian popped out again in the afternoon to return his parcel and collect another one, and he got a haircut too. It has to be said that Burton is not the most exciting place to spend a day, and the main part of town is quite a walk away. The hospital is about the most convenient thing here!
