Fortunately we’d already decided today would be a non-moving day because of the heat — which was just as well because I started a migraine yesterday evening and had to go and lie down. Then it started raining. During the night, we had the most amazing thunder storm, with at least two hours of lightning, thunder, and torrential rain. I checked the rainfall data, and the nearest gauges to here are Heathrow, which measured 27.6mm and Ham Island at 31.5mm. This morning I still felt rough so stayed in bed, mostly asleep, until lunchtime. Adrian took Macc out for a walk before it got too hot, and he went mad running about with a stick.

Meanwhile we tried to keep the boat as cool as possible, keeping the blinds shut on the offside until the sun had moved around. Then we switched and closed all the blinds on the other side while opening the side doors on the offside to get some breeze in.

And on such a hot day, Adrian had booked our winter mooring and confirmed blacking for while we’re away skiing! Current thinking is we’ll get up really early tomorrow and get the final locks done before London before it gets too hot again.
