London-bound: Day 31

Another hot day, but we weren’t planning on going anywhere. This morning was actually quite nice as we were in the shade and there was a bit of a breeze. I took Macc for a walk round the recreation ground, trying to keep him calm and cool.

After breakfast, Adrian did some of his charity work while I turned one of the blocks of coconut coir into the compost base for the loo. I also spent a considerable time cleaning the slide at the stern of the boat, the handrails, and the offside name panel, as we’d been comprehensively bombed by birds in the tree above. Not sure what birds, but judging by the state of the boat I’d estimate either albatross or giant condors!

The sun moves round after lunch, and for the time the roof is in the sun it all becomes a bit unbearable. We close off the offside of the boat and will the sun to move further round to behind the trees. No update yet on the fallen tree on the Paddington Arm at Alperton; we’ll just have to hope it’s been dealt with by the time we get there. It could be an early start again tomorrow to get the journey done before it’s too hot again.
