Wey Down South: Day 11

Adrian’s journey back from London last night took rather longer than expected thanks to a fire near Stratford, which meant he and his cousin had to walk quite a long way to find another tube line. He got back about midnight, and neither Macc nor I heard him come in. So much for having a guard dog! By this morning, the level of the river had dropped a couple of inches and we were at a bit of an angle, so we had to push the stern off so we were floating again. The water meadows are great for letting Macc have a run around, just making sure the cows are at the other end.

Adrian walked into town to pick up a few things, while I washed the dust off the towpath side of the boat, making it look a whole lot better. At lunchtime, we had a visit from our friends Brian and Mike who drove up from the south coast. We sat out on the towpath in the shade of the willow trees, had drinks and nibbles, then lunch inside the boat. Didn’t take any photos at all! They left about 4.30 by which time the sun had moved round, boosting the temperature but giving us some solar charging.
