Boats started coming past at about 9 this morning, so we knew there should be plenty of space on the moorings further into Oxford. So we disconnected from the power and set off, looking at the back gardens and extensions on some of the lovely houses backing onto the canal. Less than a mile later we pulled in, and then a boat just behind set off so we took his spot as it had a much straighter edge. We’re right opposite the old Jericho boat yard, which has been unused for years after planning rows, but has now been bought by Worcester College. Just beyond that is St Barnabus’ Church, with its very distinctive bell tower. Adrian walked into town to do a decent sized shop at Sainsbury’s, which is not too far away. After lunch, I took Macc for a walk along Sheepwash Channel and up the Thames Path a little way, we came back a different way but ended up walking further than intended. We came over the bridge at the entrance to Sheepwash Channel, and then under the railway bridge, where headroom is minimal.

Meanwhile Adrian had gone to pick up a parcel from a locker at the railway station, so as a special treat Macc was given the box to destroy. He made a pretty thorough job of it.

The Aristotle Lane moorings were next to a children’s playground, so at least we don’t have that noise any more. Instead, the trains are much closer and we have the church clock — which is rather nice, especially in the small-numbered hours!
