Bollington again, but this time on foot

Adrian had a couple of appointments in Macclesfield today and the first one was likely to take up most of the morning. As it was a lovely day, I decided I’d walk to Bollington to take sunny photos for a potential magazine article. We set off at similar times, Adrian in the car and me on foot down Middlewood Way.

Parts of the path (like the canal) have great views towards Manchester.

It took around 45 minutes to get to Bollington which looked lovely in the sunshine. I ticked off a list of things I wanted to get a photo of. It’s amazing how much better everything looks with a blue sky rather than rain.

I’d looked online and seen the Discovery Centre at Clarence Mill opened at 11, and it wasn’t that time yet, so I went for tea and flapjack at the Cafe Waterside, which was very busy. I hadn’t been there very long when Adrian called to say he was finished, so he drove into Bollington and found me at the cafe. As it turned out, the Discovery Centre is closed from now until the end of January — but fortunately the Civic Society which runs it has a good website.

We drove back to the boat for lunch. While we’d been out, our neighbours (with whom we had a nice chat over drinks yesterday evening) had gone out of the marina for a few days, meaning we now have a view on one side.

Adrian headed out back to Macclesfield for his second appointment — although it turned out there had been some sort of cock up as there were no appointments this afternoon. While he was gone, I cleaned the windows on the offside, because now we had sunshine through them I could see how dirty they were! Fortunately the porthole units lift out, which makes life a lot easier.
