Much to our surprise, and presumably to the surprise of weather forecasters, we woke up to bright sunshine. We set off about 9.15, once Macc was feeling sleepy again, with our first target being Bailey’s Trading Post for diesel. It’s actually slightly more expensive than at Lyme View, but we needed about 100 litres, and it was easier to pull in there than do cans or try to get to the marina diesel pump (which isn’t open on a Sunday anyway).
Having parted with our money, we set off again and found that the next section of towpath, between Braidbar and Lyme View, was on the route of the Stockport Trail Half Marathon.

I just looked up the results, and the guy in yellow in the photo above came 15th overall. I liked the way the sign by the bridge had been adapted — starting life as a 15km to go sign, someone had added a .5 and then an (ish).

The runners kept coming, as there were nearly 350 of them. I saw one who slipped on the muddy towpath and stumbled, and I was convinced he was about to go headlong into the canal. Many of them were very cheerful.

In spite of the sunshine it was still pretty blustery, and I was a bit worried about the turn into the marina and then getting into our slot. But it all went pretty well and we were soon secure and with the electric cable plugged in. I guess this will be the last time I have to do that entry, because the next time we leave the marina will probably be at the end of our winter mooring so we won’t be coming back.
This afternoon we’ve filled the water tank, and I washed the well deck which had become very muddy. Macc has been alternately bonkers and asleep.
