We have a lot of time to get to where we’re going, so another dot day was planned. It also meant I had time to do more research for an article about Kinver. It’s unfortunate the Rock Houses are too far away for Macc to walk to, because he’d have loved it up on Kinver Edge. It takes about half an hour to walk (mostly uphill) to the Rock Houses, a National Trust site that’s not open very many days a week. These were the last inhabited troglodyte dwellings in England, and it’s fascinating to think of people living here — which they did until the 1960s.

My next stop was even further up the hill, to the hill fort on the top of Kinver Edge. There’s a monument up there showing which direction is which, and the views are amazing.

I walked across the heathland and found a Farm Shop and Cafe, where I had tea and a flapjack, all for research purposes.

While I’d been out, Adrian had taken Macc for a snuffle around in the parkland by the boat. After lunch, Adrian popped into town while I stayed with Macc. This afternoon, I’ve done a first draft of my Kinver article, and Macc has had his weekly weigh in: he’s now 6.2kg.
Macc also has a starring role in the latest episode of The Water Road; click here to listen. It’s all about pets afloat, and includes Pip from Oleanna talking about Tilly, and Gemma and Jack from Our Floating Haus talking about their Border and their tortoise.
