London-bound: Day 22

The Belted Galloway cattle in the parkland next to the canal certainly get about. Sometimes they’re right here, and the next time they’re nowhere to be seen. Adrian took Macc for a walk this morning and not only were the cattle very close, but Macc ended up having quite a deep paddle in the River Bulbourne, as he was chasing a petal! I walked up to Aldi to restock the wine store, and then started writing a magazine article. Adrian went for a walk into town, to have a look at the Water Gardens and the town centre. Then at lunchtime all three of us walked down to the canal to the Sunnyside Up cafe, which is run by the Sunnyside Rural Trust to give training and experience to people with learning difficulties.

We had a nice and reasonably priced lunch, and Mac was also well behaved.

This afternoon I walked back to Fishery Lock to take some rubbish to the CRT bins there. A Widebeam was coming through, so I helped him with a gate.

We’ve also had a visitor this afternoon. Mark Hagan produces the Radio 2 Country Show, from which Bob Harris has just stepped down, and the Blues Show with Cerys Matthews. He lives really close by, and it was lovely to catch up with him.
