Monday at the Crick Show is always a bit odd — and with today being so hot lots of people seemed to stay away. Adrian was on the Braidbar stand from 10 to 12, so I went over to the site about 9 and got a few things done, both looking at boats for Waterways World, and recordings for the podcast. Before the show opened, Dave, one of the Braidbar joiners, put his remote controlled model Narrowboat in the marina. It’s even fitted out inside.

Then at 10 I collected Matt from Adrian and took him up to the CRT marquee to enter the dog photo competition.

He was the first one on the board. We then went back to the boat and tried to keep cool. After lunch I went back over and did more interviews, and then covered the announcement of the Favourite Boat vote. Braidbar came third, Ovation was second, and Elton Moss with Dexter’s Star was first.

Once all that was out of the way I went back to the CRT tent to see how Macc had got on. He’d been voted Dog of the Day, so Adrian brought him up to collect his prize from Matthew Symonds, the head of boating.

On the way back I went to find Del and Al of Derwent6 as I’d missed them when they came to the boat yesterday, and then we had an ice cream as we sat on the bank. The show was still officially open, but there were so few people around most stands were picking up. There’s a Braidbar drink at the pub this evening, so we’ll be going to that shortly.
