I’m just about to head out to the Independent Podcast Awards, where The Water Road is nominated in the Travel and Adventure category. I got the train from Chester this morning, having struggled to find a parking space. Then of course the train was delayed by nearly 25 minutes, not that it particularly mattered to me. I had lunch and then to kill a bit of time until I could check into my hotel, I walked around the King’s Cross area. The awards are at King’s Place, right on the canal, with Tarporley moored outside (which seems kind of fitting, as Tattenhall is so close to Tarporley).

I managed to check into a few minutes early, then headed straight back out, back up to the Euston area to meet my lovely friend Zoe Ball. I was able to watch the last half hour or so of her new show on Greatest Hits Radio, and then we went for tea and a good old chat.

Meanwhile Adrian is on the boat with Macc, and we reckon this is the first time I’ve gone away and left him alone on board. It’s usually the other way around!
