Nearly finished

We made our latest visit to Braidbar today, but on the way we called in to Macclesfield to choose a new fabric for the dinette and blinds as the original choice is delayed. After a lot of discussion over the past few days, we settled on one that had been on our original shortlist.

Once at Braidbar, we went into the paint dock to see progress there — and to see the sign writing in the flesh. It really does look good.

Kingley Vale the place is known for its ancient yew trees, and Andy has done a yew on the rear slide.

Johnnie the painter has now started the coach lines, and the handrails are now dark grey. All the colours work really well together.

The boat will look different again when the masking tape comes off and the gunwales are painted black. And we won’t really get the full effect until it’s out of the shed and in the basin.

Inside, things have also moved on. We now have cupboard doors, and the sofa from Swyft, has been unpacked. We’re pleased to find it’s a nice colour and comfortable — as it had all been decided online.

The galley is looking good too.

It’s a similar story in the shower room, where the cabinet now has a door. The loo, which was ordered months ago, arrived just after we’d left.

Perhaps most excitingly, we now have a date for handover later this month. It’s really not long away.
