We had a non-moving day planned today, mostly because I had an interview lined up for a future podcast. Macc has been in a funny mood all day; it’s possible he’s not keen on staying in the same place! We gave him the buffalo roll we bought yesterday, and once he’d figured out how to get hold of it he gave it a good chew.
Adrian went into Berkhamsted, where he got a pair of waterproof over-trousers from Mountain Warehouse and had what he said was a very nice coffee at a cafe. Then he picked up an order from Waitrose. We’ve been keeping things like potatoes and carrots in one of the wine stores in the galley floor, as it’s down to the base plate and should be cool. But they haven’t been keeping as well as we might like, so Helen Tidy suggested veg bags, which she finds work really well. So now we have a set and will see how we get on.
While Adrian was out I noticed that the boat behind us had left, so I moved us back a bit so we were no longer across the corner before the bridge. The stern is still a long way out though.
After lunch I walked down to Waitrose to get fresh food for the next few days, as there are few shopping opportunities until we get to Leighton Buzzard. On the walk back, there was a cormorant drying his wings on the lock landing.
Later in the afternoon I walked through the industrial estate over the bridge for the interview. Even though the building backs onto the canal, it still seems an odd place for this organisation to be based.
